About AxiosTherapy

Mission

Who is AxiosTherapy? Well, axios is a Greek word-picture commonly translated as “worthy,” which was used to depict just, balanced payment scales in ancient times. In my practice, this word-picture inspires me to help couples and families attune, regain emotional balance, and connect with one another as they walk out their lives in ways “worthy” of their calling.

Dr. Olufowote’s Background

I have practiced Marriage and Family Therapy since 2015. I have worked in university training clinics, served a wide variety of clientele, including low-income clients and clients of color, and I provide special insights for clients with a Christian faith background. I also began providing clinical supervision to master’s students studying marriage and family therapy in 2016 as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate, and became an Approved Supervisor in May 2018. Since 2021, I have served as a full-time faculty and program director in the Online MA in Marital and Family Therapy program at Alliant International University, a premier, COAMFTE accredited training program in couple, marriage, and family therapy.

My clinical work and clinical supervision is research-based, and I adjust my approach as needed based on clients’ real-time needs, while staying within my clinical training.

Professionally, I have trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy with the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy and received advanced training in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy from Texas Tech University. I am passionate about helping marriages succeed, and working with couples is my clinical specialization.

“Nobody escapes being wounded. We are all wounded people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. The main question is not, ‘How can we hide our wounds?’ so we don’t have to be embarrassed, but ‘How can we put our woundedness in the service of others?’ When our wounds cease to be a source of shame and become a source of healing, we have become wounded healers.”
— Henri Nouwen
